Aquatic Animals

We are expanding globally in aquatic animal health as the worldwide consumption of fish increases, while the supplies from the ocean decreases. Our aquaculture solutions, including vaccines and products for bacterial and parasite control, aim to ensure healthy consistent yields.

Vaccination plays a pivotal role in assuring the health of farmed fish. We supply immersion, injection and oral vaccines to a wide range of fish species including salmon, trout, sea bass, sea bream, tilapia, barramundi, cod, yellowtail and amberjack. AQUAVACIPN is our oral vaccine for the control and prevention of infectious pancreatic necrosis in salmon. NORVAX COMPACTPD is a vaccine against pancreas disease virus, which was added to the range in 2007. AQUAFLOR (florfenicol), marketed as AQUAFEN in some markets, is a fast-acting, broad-spectrum antibiotic in a highly palatable premix formulation developed specifically for aquaculture. AQUAFLOR is used to treat highly infectious bacterial diseases in catfish, salmon, trout and other farm-raised aquatic species.

AQUAFLOR-CA1, an in-feed antibiotic introduced in late 2007, is available under conditional approval in the USA for the control of mortality in catfish due to columnaris disease associated with Flavobacterium columnare. AQUAFLOR is developed for treatment of several aquaculture diseases, such as coldwater disease (associated with Flavobacterium psychrophilum) in freshwater-reared salmonids and enteric septicemia in catfish (ESC) associated with Edwardsiella ictaluri. Approval was recently acquired for the control of mortality in freshwater-reared salmonids due to furunculosis associated with Aeromonas salmonicida.

Our sea lice treatment, SLICE (emamectin) is one of the available tools to control parasitic sea lice affecting salmon.

We strive to offer integrated health solutions to our many customers. The aquaculture industry is seeing a greater focus on fertility management and reproduction, which is why customers are turning to our GONAZON product to advance and synchronize spawning, thereby improving reproductive performance.
