Free vaccine support for assistance dogs
15 June 2006

Assistance dogs fulfil a valuable role in society, greatly improving the quality of life enjoyed by their owners. Maintaining the health of these animals is crucial, but imposes additional financial burdens on the charities that train and provide assistance dogs.
To help these organizations and the individuals to which they provide such vital help, Intervet UK donates all of the vaccines required by assistance dogs trained and provided by the following five charities:
- Canine Partners
- Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
- Guide Dogs for the Blind
- Dogs for the Disabled
- Support Dogs
For each of these charities, Intervet provides cards that enable the holder to obtain vaccines free of charge. This benefits not only the dogs and their owners, but also the charities, which would otherwise have to meet all preventative healthcare costs.
Veterinary surgeons treating assistance dogs provided by the five charities simply fill in the card and send it freepost to Intervet, which then provides replacement vaccine stocks free of charge.
As the leader in the UK market for canine vaccines, Intervet is delighted to offer this simple but effective service, which contributes to the health of animals that play such a valuable role in society.
