Akzo Nobel appoints new manager for its business unit Intervet

Ruurd Stolp, who holds a PhD in Veterinary Medicine from University of Utrecht, joined Intervet in 1989 as Head, Microbiological Quality Control. Following his return in 1996 from a post with Intervet’s US business, he was appointed to the Board of Intervet. He is currently Vice-President in charge of Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality Control and Technical Affairs.As Mr. Stolp receives the reins of Intervet in summer 2002, his predecessor, Toon Wilderbeek (51), the current General Manager, can look back to a successful period of developing Intervet from a specialized vaccine manufacturer to one of the world’s three leading companies in animal health. A graduate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Utrecht, Mr. Wilderbeek worked in Tunisia from 1976 to 1980 as a field officer for the Dutch Ministry of Development Aid. He joined Intervet in 1980 as an assistant in the Veterinary Service department. Subsequently, he held various management functions before becoming Manager R&D/Manufacturing and a member of Intervet’s Board of Management in 1991. In 1994 he was appointed General Manager of Intervet International.
