Salenvac T vaccine spreads wings at VIV

23 October 2003

Boxmeer, September 1, 2003 - VIV 2003 is the first non-UK debut of Nobilis Salenvac T, Intervet’s salmonella vaccine that protects against both S.enteritidis and S.typhimurium, making it an important advancement in efforts to make poultry meat and eggs safer for humans.

Salenvac T is the only vaccine to fight both salmonella strains, the most frequently reported causes of food poisoning in humans. It joins the Nobilis family of safe poultry products, which includes Salenvac and SG 9R. The "T" signifies protection against S.typhimurium, which increasingly concerns the industry. Salenvac T builds on the success of Nobilis Salenvac, an inactivated S.enteritidis vaccine introduced in the UK in 1994 and used effectively worldwide.

Grown under Iron Restriction-conditions, it produces an immune response that mimics the natural Salmonella challenge. Its aluminium hydroxide adjuvant is safe for birds and people. Research reveals cross protection against other group B and D salmonella strains including S.agona and S.heidelberg

Available in the U.K. since January 2003, Salenvac T will be introduced throughout Europe in early 2004. For information, visit the Intervet stand in Hall 3, number A122.
