Nobilis Salenvac T vaccine receives award at VIV Europe 2003

31 October 2003

Boxmeer, October 19, 2003 - Nobilis Salenvac T, Intervet’s new vaccine that provides excellent protection for breeder and layer birds against Salmonella infections has received the VIV award in the category "Animal Health".

Nobilis Salenvac T was also one of the two nominees in the category "Food Safety", being an important advancement in efforts to make poultry meat and eggs safer for humans.

Nobilis Salenvac T provides active immunization against S.enteritidis and S.typhimurium thus protecting commercial layer and breeder birds against the health implications of salmonella infections. In addition, research has shown that maternal antibodies passed from the vaccinated breeder birds to their progeny protect chicks against salmonella infections during their first weeks of life.

Nobilis Salenvac T offers poultry producers the benefits of broadest possible protection against a wide range of salmonella strains with the use of just one vaccine. It is therefore a major advancement in efforts to make poultry meat and eggs safer for human consumption.

It joins the Nobilis family of Safe Poultry products, which includes Salenvac and SG 9R. Available in the U.K. since January 2003, Salenvac T will be introduced throughout Europe in early 2004.

The VIV Europe, taking place every two years in Utrecht, The Netherlands is an international trade fair, which serves as a major platform for the international livestock industry. The VIV award selects most innovative product in different categories while also considering l the social relevance of the new products or services.
