Description
Bovilis IBR marker live is a live attenuated marker vaccine against infections with Bovine herpesvirus type 1 in cattle. Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) the causative agent of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR).



Composition
Each dose of the vaccine contains at least 5.7 log10 TCID50 of gE- BoHV-1 strain GK/D.

Indications
Bovilis IBR marker live is used for active immunisation of cattle in order to reduce the intensity and duration of the clinical signs induced by an infection with BoHV-1 and to reduce excretion of field virus.

Vaccination
For intranasal and intramuscular administration. The use of a nozzle is recommended for intranasal administration.
Dosage  - 2 ml via i.m. injection. 
- 2 ml (one for each nostril) via intranasal administration.

Method of administration

  • before the age of 3 months: intranasal
  • from the age of 3 months onwards: intranasal or intramuscular

Vaccination schedule
Basic vaccination:

  • Before the age of 3 months:
    Two vaccination, each with a single dose: the first vaccination from the age of 2 weeks onwards and the second vaccination at the age of 3 - 4 months.
  • From the age of 3 months onwards:
    Single vaccination, with one dose per animal

Revaccination:

  • Revaccinate with a single dose every 6 months

After vaccination a slight transient rise in temperature (1°C) can be seen. An increase of nasal discharge can be observed after intranasal vaccination.

Withholding period 
None. (National regulations should be observed).

Presentation
Cardboard boxes with 1 or 10 vials, with 5, 10, 25, or 50 doses per vial. Diluent Unisol (10 or 50 ml) is supplied with the product. 

Storage
Store at the temperature between 2-8°C. Protect from light.
Reconstitute the vaccine immediately before use with Unisolve (2 ml per dose).

Further information
The vaccine does not elicit antibodies to glycoprotein E of BoHV-1 (marker vaccine). This enables discrimination between cattle vaccinated with the product and cattle infected with BoHV-1 field virus.

Precautions
Vaccinate healthy animals only.
Use clean equipment for administration but avoid contamination of the vaccine with traces of disinfectant or alcohol.
