Porcilis® APP

Description
Porcilis® APP is based on the outer membrane protein (OMP) and three toxoids ApxI, ApxII and ApxIII, produced by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae strains. The product confers protection against all known Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotypes anywhere in the world.


Composition
ApxI, ApxII, ApxIII toxoids and OMP of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. These active components are suspended in Diluvac Forte®.

Formulation
Ready-to-use inactivated vaccine.

Indications
Active immunisation of weaners as an aid to control pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.

Vaccination
Maximum protection should be achieved before the start of the fattening period. Pigs can be vaccinated from 6 weeks of age onwards. Two doses at a minimum interval of 4 weeks are required. It is recommended that these are given at 6 and 10 weeks of age.

Method of administration
2 ml by the intramuscular route.

Withholding period
None

Presentation
Vials containing 10 doses (20 ml), 25 doses (50 ml), 50 doses (100 ml) or 125 doses (250 ml).

Storage
Store at a temperature of  2-8°C. Protect from light. Do not freeze.

Contra-indications
After vaccination pigs may show a mild systemic reaction with fever, dullness and anorexia. If they have a full stomach at the time of vaccination, vomiting may sometimes occur. Temporary mild swelling at the injection site may occur in some pigs. These reactions usually disappear within 24 hours of vaccination.

Precautions

  • Vaccinate healthy pigs only
  • Store the vaccine in the dark at 2-8°C, avoid freezing
  • Allow the vaccine to reach room temperature (15-25°C) before use 
  • Shake the vaccine before and during use
  • Mixing with other vaccines or any other substance is not recommended. There are however data available on the combination with the product Porcilis AD Begonia
  • Use sterile syringes and needles 
  • If not used within 10 hours, opened bottles should be discarded
