Dieter Lütticken Award To Stimulate Reduction Of Animal Testing
Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health offers the Dieter Lütticken Award to promote scientists or life science research institutions working in research areas that serve the 3R-concept, i.e. reducing, refining or replacing the use of animals in testing for development and production of veterinary medicines. The total funding for this award is 20,000 Euro.
This international award, established in 2004, is given to scientists or public institutions that have delivered excellent contributions to the 3Rs for the development and production of veterinary medicinal products. The award’s scope covers in vitro models used in R&D which replace animal testing for licensing purposes as well as studies avoiding the use of animals in efficacy, safety and quality testing in the production of biologicals and pharmaceuticals for animals.
The scope should be interpreted as broadly as possible. It can cover for example residu testing, new toxicological methods, challenging test replacements, epidemiological studies focusing on correlation of field data and protection of animals by vaccination, epitope identification, genomics, proteomics, alternatives for production methods using animal byproducts or animals.
A jury panel composed of experts from public institutions of the animal health/animal testing sector and company representatives will look for possible candidates and will make final selection.
Also direct submissions from all life science research institutions are welcome. Commercial organizations are excluded.
Candidates should give full contact details, co-operation partners, an executive summary of the studies and an argumentation why they should be taken into consideration, a publications list related to the study and a selection of copies of those publications which give a good overview of the work.
